Because He Lives

We sang this on Sunday, and it reallay encouraged me. Of all the song lyrics I might have posted on my blog, never thought this would be one of them. But then again never have I lived so much in the second verse. Thank you Jesus.

God sent His son, they called Him Jesus
He came to love, heal, and forgive.
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, All fear is gone.
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living just because He lives.

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives.
But greater still the calm assurance,
This child can face uncertain days because He lives.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, All fear is gone.
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living just because He lives.

Life with Little Bit

It's been one month since we've brought Little Bit home. She is so very precious and sweet and we are loving having her as a part of our family--for however long God has in mind for that to be. She is getting bigger--has gained more than a pound since she left the hospital. Its probably more like a pound and a half since its been a week since her last appointment.

Anna  is still loving her so much. I feel like she has adjusted really well. I feel like I should have posted something else recently, but I just haven't had much to say. We are enjoying being a family of four.

Matt has today off work. He is helping a friend with some accounting stuff now, and we have a date planned for tonight. I'm very much looking forward to it!

Here is a video that I love. I am teaching a ladies bible study in a month or so on adoption, and I'm thinking of adding this in there somewhere. Enjoy! It is sort of meaty, but isn't John Piper always?

A Child Of Mine (To All Parents) by Edgar Guest

Someone at Matt's work gave him this poem. It makes me cry every time I read it. I love it.

A Child Of Mine (To All Parents)
Edgar Guest

I will lend you, for a little while a child of mine, He said.
For you to love the while he lives and mourn for when he's dead.
It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three.
But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for Me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you, and should his stay be brief,
You'll have his lovely memories, as solace for your grief.

I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn.
I've looked the wide world over in search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes, I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love, nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to take him home again?

I fancied that I heard them say, 'Dear Lord, Thy will be done!'
For all the joys Thy child shall bring, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness, we'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for him much sooner than we've planned'
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand.

Meet "Little Bit"

God has blessed us with the opportunity to welcome a little girl into our family for a little while. She is two weeks old and came home with us this afternoon. I will refer to her as "Little Bit" to respect her privacy. We don't know how long she will be a part of our family, but we are truly thankful to be able to be a part of her life, even if in a small way.

Anna is loving her new baby sister. Its only been a few hours, but anyone who knows Anna knows how much she LOVES babies. Anna was giving her lots of kisses tonight. It was so incredibly sweet. Hopefully she will keep this attitude toward her. :)

Since I can't post pics of Little Bit, I will add this one of Anna from the surprise baby shower my homegroup girls threw me. They are amazing friends!! Anna got dressed up by some of the other kiddos and loved every minute of it.

The Light Yoke

I read the Christian Alliance for Orphans blog, and they posted this article a few days ago. I really liked it, and thought I'd repost.

The Light Yoke

Written By: Jedd Medefind

Even when I was a boy, Jesus’ claim that his yoke was somehow easy and light mystified me. Had he not warned of heavy, even severe, costs for following him? In Bonhoeffer’s unforgettable words, “When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die.” What’s easy about that?

I landed my first paid political campaign job shortly after college. After months of envelope-stuffing and minor editing roles, I was thrilled by my candidate’s offer: “Want to fly with me to attend a fundraiser for a candidate I’m trying to help down south?” Boy, did I ever.

Christmas Pics Round One

Will get some more from Sijun, but here are a few! It was a great night!

GranFoster made us all fun hats!

Anna got her very own brush! One of her favorite activities.
 mmm....Chocolate Pie!

I love her curl.

She has a very generous Daddy.

I love it!

 Sijun and her friend

Anna loves ice cubes. She is teething again right now also so I think it helps.

So blessed and so thankful for my family. I didn't really get any pictures of the festivities from my side this year. I was too busy sitting on the couch. ;)

A great Christmas

Fosters had a great Christmas this year. Pictures to come--I actually didn't take very many, so I am waiting to get some from other people.

We spend Christmas eve with the Fosters (Matt's parents). My good friend Sijun and her boyfriend came over and spent some time with us. We went to Christmas Even Candlelight communion at church, followed by dinner. We've had a soup and sandwich tradition for a few years. It was yummy! Had lots of good conversation with Sijun and Zhi Gang. Followed by super fun hats made by Granfoster and digging into our stockings. We decided to forgo giving each other gifts and just fill stockings. Instead of giving Anna lots more toys she doesn't need, and each other things that might or might not get used, we each gave that money where we felt lead to (And Anna still got a few fun toys, too :). I REALLY like this tradition and am glad we are have started it when Anna is young.

Sijun spent the night with us and we had a quiet Christmas morning. Took a very chilly walk and hung out at the house. After Anna's nap we went over to visit Grandmuzze who is still in the rehab hospital recovering from her broken hip and surgery. Then off to my sisters house. The kiddos were in full process of opening presents when we got there. Anna is still very much enjoying her new animal zoo set, baby stroller, and shopping cart full of "food". Had a great, laidback time with lots of laughs and good conversations.

I love my family! 2010 was a very Merry Christmas indeed!
